Ralph is a cinematographer who has been working on more than 200 productions, including feature films, tv movies, tv series, commercials, promos and music videos worldwide. He enjoys working in different styles and techniques, always striving to create a unique visual language for each story or project.

After starting out in 1992 and many years of AC-ing, operating and completing his cinematography degree in Germany, Ralph began to shoot as DoP in 1998. In 2003, he relocated to Los Angeles to complete his education at the renowned AFI Conservatory. Ralph spent 17 years living and working based out of Los Angeles until he moved to Berlin in 2020.

He is known for his 2nd unit and action work on highly successful international productions like ARMY OF THIEVES, which was # 1 in over 90 countries on Netflix, the series BERLIN STATION and THE OFFER for Paramount, the 6 Academy Award nominated TÁR as well as the $120 million action movie LIFT which was released on Netflix on January 12, 2024 and scored #1 in 93 countries, worldwide.

TÁR and THE OFFER also won at the renown CAMERIMAGE Festival in the main and tv competition in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

On a domestic German level, Ralph’s works and collaborations include the highly acclaimed movies GOOD BYE, LENIN! and ME AND KAMINSKI, two 90 minute episodes of the crime series HELEN DORN as well as the series NEBEN DER SPUR which both broke and set new records with approx. 8 Million viewers and 24% market share on national prime time television.

The tv feature TATORT – SPUR DES BLUTES aired October 23, 2022 and scored fantastic reviews and numbers. 34% market share and 10,77 million viewers winning the #1 spot during prime time.

In 2022 he completed work on the Paramount Plus series THE OFFER which portraits Coppola’s endeavour to shoot THE GODFATHER and the Focus Features movie TÁR with Cate Blanchett, directed by Todd Field which received 6 OSCAR nominations including BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY as well as 5 BAFTA nominations. Ralph enjoyed 45 days of DP-ing 2nd Unit and operating B-Cam for cinematographer Florian Hoffmeister, BSC on TÁR.

In April 2022 Ralph joined the 120 million dollar action film production LIFT for Netflix Originals USA starring Kevin Hart, Jean Reno, Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and many more.

Fall 2022, Ralph finished DP-ing DER GEJAGTE – THE HUNTED with director Rick Ostermann in Italy, starring Tobias Moretti, Gerti Drassl, Harald Windisch and Antonia Moretti.

November 2022, Ralph began work on SEXY BEAST for Paramount Plus in Liverpool. A prequel series to the acclaimed movie by Jonathan Glazer. He DP-ed episode 7 and 8, the showdown of the first season, early 2023.

July 2023, Ralph wrapped shooting the tv movie 2 FREUNDE in Germany, once again with director Rick Ostermann starring Uli Matthes and Justus von Dohnányi. He is currently shooting all 6 episodes of a new drama series which will air 2025.

He holds an EU passport as well as a US greencard and is a member of the German Society of Cinematographers.

He has also worked for some of the leading agencies including Droga5, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Wieden+Kennedy, Deutsch, Grey, Select, Innocean, McLaren/McCann, Leo Burnett, Heat and others.
